Russian naval base at Moon dismantled according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 25 October 1917

An item dated London, England 20th referred to statement of the Russian navy dealing with the situation of the 19th on the Baltic Sea islands. German forces captured Oesel and Moon [Muhu or Muhumaa nowadays Estonia] but Dago was still kept by the small garrison which was helped by the swamps. The coastal batteries of the naval base at the Moon Sound and the majority of the warships, tugs, transports and so on was transferred to a safer location at the entrance of the Finnish Gulf despite the efforts of the enemy to prevent this.
