Norway ordered building torpedo boats by German shipyard Schichau according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1896 nr. 2

An item reported that the Norwegian cabinet signed a contract with the German firm Schichau&Comp., Elbing, Germany for building 3 torpedo boats for 10.000 pound sterling each to be delivered within 10 months. Displacement 95 ton and speed 23 knots. Norway choose for Schichau while this shipyard was the cheapest. There were considerable differences between the tenders sent by the interested firms.
