Port Lincoln, Australia investigated for use as torpedo boats base according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1912-1913 no. 6

An item reported that the Australian minister for defence rear admiral Creswell and his chief engineer visited in the end of May Port Lincoln to investigate if the harbour was suitable to be used as secondary base for torpedo boats.(1)

Sir William Rooke Creswell (20 July 1852 Gubraltar-20 April 1933 Armadale, Victoria, Australia), served in the Royal British Navy 1865-1878, in the Naval Defence Force of the Colony of South Australia 1885-1901 and in the Royal Australian Navy 1901-1919, finally dismissed in the rank of vice-admiral. Between 1904-1919 First Naval Member Australian Commonwealth Board.
