An item referred to the Revista general de marina reporting the launching in the dock of Kowloon near Hong Kong of the composite built Spanish gunboat Quiros to be used as cruiser in the Philippines. Displacement 347 tons and as dimensions 44,2 x 6,7 metres. The triple expansion steam engine of 330, 553 and 634mm cylinder diameters delivering 500 ihp. Two cylindrical boilers with a pressure of 11.9 kilo/square cm. The armament consisted of 2x1-5,7cm Nordenfelt guns (1 fore, 1 aft) and 2-5cm Hotchkiss guns (each side one) with a range of 180 degrees. During the 6 hours trial was the speed 11 knots.
