French cruiser Jeanne d’Arc 1928-1964


Laid down at Penhoët, St. Naziare, France in September 1928, launched in 1930, baptized on 14 February 1930, commissioned in October 1931, decommissioned in 1964 and finally broken up. Designed by naval engineer Antoine to be uses as training ship and as competitive warship. Building approved un 1927 Program. Homeport Toulon, France. Pennant C 605. Displacement 6.500 tons and as dimensions 170 x 17,70 x 6,50 metres or 560 x 58.1 x 21.3 feet/ The turbines and boilers supplied 32.500 hp allowing a speed of 25 (design)-27,8 (trials) knots and with a speed of 14,5 knots a range of 5.000 nautical miles. The armament consisted of 2 CAMS Reconnaissance planes, 4x2-15,5cm/6.1” guns (2x bo2, 2xaft), 4-7,5cm/3” guns, 11-3,7cm/1.5” anti aircraft guns , 12-1,3cm/0.51 anti aircraft machineguns and 2 torpedo tubes. Her crew numbered 552 men excluded 156 midshipmen.
