Flagship of the JMSDF Training Fleet. Building under Financial Year Budget 1991 and later 1992 approved, ordered in 1992, laid down by the Hitachi Zosen Corporation on 20 April 1993, launched on 23 February 1994 and commissioned on 25 January 1995. Displacement 4.050 (standard) tons and as dimensions 143 x 18 x 4,6 metres or 469 x 59 x 15 feet. Speed 25 knots. Fitted out with 2-26.150 shp  Rolls-Royce Spey SM1C gad turbines an d2 Mitsubushi S16U-MTK diesels. Crew numbers 370 men. The armament consists of 1-7,6cm Otobreda gun, 2x3 torpedo tubes and 4 saluting guns. Homeport Kure, Japan. MMSI 431999529.
