German shipyard Blohm&Voss, Hamburg, Germany building dry dock for Austrian navy according to the Dutch magazine Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 2
An item reported that the shipyard of Blohm&Voss, Hamburg, Germany already building a 4.200 tons dock for the German navy yard at Wilhelmshafen received the order for a 40.000 tons for account of the Austrian navy. The reason that the dock was not built in Austria were the short delivery term and the low building costs. The Austrian meal industry was far from amused that the order was given to a foreign shipyard. In the parliament stated the minister for trade that the Austrian shipyards were not able to deliver such a dock on short notice and that their building costs were 664.000 crones higher. However the minister assured the parliament that in any case the Austrian industry had his preference.
