Italian auxiliary cruisers Città di Palermo, Città di Messina and Città di Siracusa commissioned according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1912 no. 1

An item reported that the Italian auxiliary cruisers Città di Palermo, Città di Messina and Città di Siracusa are commissioned for cruising purposes. Their armament was to consist of 4-7,6cm guns and some 5,7 or 3,7cm quick firing guns.(1)

1. Probably as result of the war between 29 September 1911-18 October 1912 which was disastrous for Turkey and resulting in establishing Italian Libya  and gaining control over the Greek Dodecanese islands.
