Royal Netherlands Navy ordered building torpedo boats XVII-XX by Kon. Mij. De Schelde, Vlissingen, Netherlands in 1879


On 20 December 1879 ordered the Royal Netherlands Navy the building of the 4 spar torpedo boats Zr. Ms. XVII-XX included steam engines and boilers.

The order was accepted for ƒ 192.000 and another ƒ 13.000 for stores and spar devices. The building costs were ƒ 156.041,81 meaning a profit of ƒ 48.958,19.
Building costs ship ƒ 40.087,39 (stores ƒ 20.907,95, labour ƒ 19.040, 16, expenses ƒ 9.139,28)
Engines ƒ 85.665,08 (stores ƒ 32.486,32, labour ƒ 32.229,55, 65% expenses ƒ 20.949,21)
Boilers ƒ 21.289,34 (stores ƒ 10.776,81, labour ƒ 6.183,84, 70% expenses ƒ 4.328,69).
