Several British naval air stations established in short time according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1914 nos. 1-2
An item reported that in the last
years the British naval air force was considerable increased. Somewhat a year
ago was on the island Grain an air station established and since followed by
another five stations at Calshot, Feloxtowe, Yarnouth, Firth of Forth and
Cromarty. In 1913 were 88 officers and men licensed as pilots. For the airships
were however a sufficient number of pilots lacking. While the naval air force
was added to the naval sub depot at Sheerness appointed the Admiralty a special
inspector for the air force.
