US navy asked budget for modernizing battleships according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf dated 9 February 1923

An item dated Washington, USA 9th reported that the commission for internal affairs of the American House of Representatives decided that a bill for modernizing battleships had priority. The bill included the approval of 6,6 million US dollars to modernize American battleships to a level comparable with that of the British and Japanese navies.
