US Navy asking for tenders for stricken battleships and cruisers according to the Dutch newspaper Limburger Koerier dated 24 September 1923

An item dated New York, USA 23rd reported that the American cabinet published an announcement asking for tenders for 21 battleships and cruisers stricken as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty. On 25th October were six ships to be auctioned.(1)

Result of the Washington Naval Conference between November 1921-February 1922 signed by USA, England, Japan, Italy and France to limit the building of battleships, battle cruisers and aircraft carriers and to limit the possession of such capital ships by stopping completion of breaking up already existing.
