France preparing manoeuvres with 1st squadron according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 23 April 1934

The Béarn

An item dated Toulon, France 20th reported that the French first squadron commanded by admiral Dubois was being prepared for manoeuvres. It consisted of 2 battleships, 4 cruisers, 16 destroyers, 6 submarines and the aircraft carrier Béarn.(1)

The Béarn was laid down at the shipyard Société Nouvelle des Forges et Chantiers de la Méditerranéee, La Seyne, France as a battleship of the Normandie-class on 10 January 1914, launched as an aircraft cattier n April 1920, commissioned in May 1927 and stricken on 21 March 1967 and finally broken up in Italy.
