German destroyers attacking British transport service over the Channel according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 30 October 1916

An item dated London, England 27th reported that yesterday evening 10 German destroyers attacked the transport service over the Channel with much success. They succeeded in destroying the unloaded transport Queen of which the crew was rescued, but losing 2 destroyers and the remaining forced to retreat. The British destroyer Flirt (1) was missing and feared to be lost. Nine surviving crewmembers were rescued. The destroyer Nubian (2) was disabled by a torpedo hut, towed to safety but run aground when she lost the towing line in the bad weather. An second item dated The Hague, Netherlands 27th reported the German version of what happened. They claimed that just one German torpedo boat had been active, destroying the mail boat Queen and two destroyers returning safely to her base.
