Building ordered on 12 June 1912, laid down at the Germaniawerft, Kiel, Germany with yard number 198 on 25 February 1913, launched on 9 September 1914, commissioned on 15 December 1914, surrendered on 23 February 1919 to France and finally broken up at Brest, France in 1921.
Double-hulled ocean going submarine of the type U 31 with a displacement pf 685 (surfaced)-878 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 52,36 (pressure hull)-64,70 (over all) x 4,05 (pressure hull)-6,32 (over all) x 3,56 metres or 171.9’-212.3’ x 13.3-20.9’x 11.8’. The horsepower was 2x1.825 shp 6c-ylinder two stroke Germania diesel engines and 2x1.1.184shp Siemens-Schuckert double-acting electric motors allowing with the 2 shafts and 2 screws a speed of 16,4 (surfaced)-9,7 (submerged) knots. The range was 8.790 nautical miles when surfaced with a speed of 8 knots and 80 nautical miles when submerged with a speed of 5 knots. The tested diving depth was 50 metres/164.1’. Her crew numbered 35 men. The armament consisted of 4-50cm/20” torpedo tubes (2xbow, 2xstern) for which 6 torpedoes were taken with her and 1-8,8cm/3.5” deck gun, between 1916-1917 replaced by 1-10,5cm/4.1” gun.
