Building of 8 submarines with mother ship for US Navy approved according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1912-1913 no. 9

An item reported that under the US Navy Budget 1913 the building of 8 submarines with as total costs 4,5 million US dollars was approved just like 1 million US dollars needed for building a mother ship. The intention was to station 4 of these new boats at the mouth of the Mississippi and in the harbours along the Gulf of Mexico and the other 4 along the Pacific Ocean coast.
