The Béarn
An item dated Paris, France 10th reported that the French parliament started with discussing the naval shipbuilding program. Her naval commission proposed the cancelling of 4 obsolete battleships, to convert the Béarn into an aircraft carrier and to start in 1921 with the building of 3 light cruisers of 8.000 tons, 6 large destroyers, 12 torpedo boats and 12 submarines of diverse types. These ships were part of a program approved after discussions between the commission and the cabinet and which consisted of 6 light cruisers, 12 destroyers, 12 torpedo boats, 36 submarines and an aircraft carrier. Still it was remarked that France had no planes to follow the naval arms race of England and the USA.
