Brazilian mother submarine ship Ceara completed according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1916-1917 no. 4

An item reported that the Brazilian depot ship for submarines Ceara built at Fiat San Georgio, La Spezia, Italy was completed. It was a combination of a depot-repair-dock and salvage vessel. Submarines were docked in a special part of the ship which could be closed making it able tot test the submarine under different pressures. Dimensions of the ship 100 x 15 x 4 metres. Dimensions of the dock 54 7 metres. Machinery consisted of 2 diesel engines driving each a screw. Maximum speed 14 miles with 2x3.200 ehp. With a speed of 10 miles was the range 4.000 nautical miles. Crew numbered 140 men. Accommodation for 150 men belonging tot the submarine crews. Large fuel storage for the submarines. For the Italian government was a similar vessel built.(1)
