French aviso 1st class Ancre visiting Amsterdam, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Het Volk dated 16 July 1931

An item reported that the French aviso Ancre intended to visited Amsterdam between4-7 August 1926. Another newspaper De Tijd dated 5 August reported her arrival coming from Dunkirk, France at Ijmuiden, Netherlands. Later she steamed towards Amsterdam, Netherlands where she anchored along the Westerdoksdijk near the colonial establishment. Commanding officer captaine de fregate M. Leclere.

1. French flush decked aviso 1st class or sloop. Of the Scarpe-class consisting of the Scarpe, Suippe and Ancre. Laid down at the Arsenal de Lorient, France in 1916, launched in 18 January 1918, completed in 1918, commissioned on 13 August 1918, added to the aircraft training at Saint Servan in March 1924, condemned on 6 January 1939 and broken up at Lorient in 1946. With a displacement of 604 tons and as dimensions 76,2 x 8,68 x 3,27 metres. The machinery consisted of geared Parsons steam turbines and 2 Du Temple boilers supplying 5.000 hp allowing a maximum speed of 20 knots. With a bunker oil capacity of 143 tons and a speed of 11 knots was the range 4.000 nautical miles. Crew numbered 107 men. The armament consisted of 4x1-10cm/3.93” .45 M1917 guns and 3-4,7cm/1.85“ guns. In the 1920s was the armament changed into 1-6,5cm /5- gun and 1-7,5xm /35M1897 gun.
