Portuguese navy ordered Mauser rifles according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1886-1887 no. 7

An item reported that the Portuguese navy ordered 3.000 rifles of the Kropatschek (1) type at the firm Mauser, Oberndorf, Germany.

1. Repeating rifle of Austrian army general Alfred Ritter von Kropatschek (30 January 1838 Bieltz/Bielsko, Poland-2 May 1911 Lovran, Croatia) using a-round integral tubular magazine. The 8mm/0.323”rifle had a weight of 4,3 kilo/9.5 lb and a length of 1,32cm (barrel 82cm). Between 1886-1898 used by Portuguese armed forces.
