The strength of the Italian navy according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 15 June 1911

An item reported that the Italian navy had in actual service the Mediterranean squadron consisting of 6 battleships, 4 armoured cruisers, 3 small cruisers and 12 torpedo boats. The reserve consisted of 3 aged battleships, 4 small armoured cruisers, 3 small cruisers and some torpedo boats. In East Asia was one cruiser, in South America  2 cruisers and in the Red Sea 1 cruiser and 3 gunboats serving.
