British defence course for merchant shipping officers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1937 no. 6

An item referred to the U.S.R. dated 19 August 1937 reporting that a so-called defence course would become available for merchant shipping officers. The le Yacht dated 4 September 1937 reported that the courses were given in the 7 large harbours. In a week time were 10 lectures each of 3 hours given dealing with convoy navigating, anti submarine defence, artillery and protection against mines and poison gas.
