Turkish naval commission visited Dutch submarines according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 8 January 1925

Turkish Ikinci İnönü

An item reported that a Turkish commission investigating the possibilities of purchasing visited the Netherlands. The commission consisting of 2 navy officers and one officer of the steam shipping service visited a day earlier the Dutch shipyard Fijenoord at Rotterdam(1), the Hr. Ms. K IX (2) lying there in a dock and a submarine of the O-type (3) still under construction. The next day was a visit at the Dutch naval base at Nieuwediep visited where the Hr. Ms. KXII (4) was lying for executing her trials.

1. Laid down by Shipyard Fijenoord at Rotterdam on 9 December 1922, launched on 24 April 1924, commissioned on 24 March 1925 and decommissioned on 11 April 1945. Displacement 688 (surfaced)-828 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 66,7 x 6,2 metres. Armament consisted of 4-45cm/17.7” and 2-53,3cm/21”, 1-8,8cm gun and 1-12,7mm machinegun.
2. This shipyard built 2 submarines for Turkey the Birinci İnönü, launched on 29 January 1927 and the Ikinci İnönü launched on 12 March 1927.
3. The O 11 was laid down on 24 December 1922, launched on 19 March 1925, commissioned on 18 January 1926 and decommissioned on 11 October 1944. Displacement 526 (surfaced)-656 (submerged) tons and as dimensions 54,7 x 5,7 x 3,5 metres. Armament consisted of 3-45cm and 2-53,3cm torpedo tubes, 1-8.8cm gun and 1-12,7mm machinegun.
4. Laid down by Shipyard Fijenoord at Rotterdam on 9 January 1923, launched on 15 July 1924, commissioned on 19 May 1925 and decommissioned on 9 September 1944.
