Cruisers for Russian navy under construction in Estonia, Germany and Russia according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 8

Svetlana-class light cruisers

An item reported that at Potilow [Putilov Shipyard, St. Petersburg, Russia] the small cruisers Admiral Spiridov and Admiral Bousakow [Admiral Butakov] were laid down for Russian account. Described as scouts had these ships a displacement of 7.200 tons and as dimensions 154,5 x 15,2 x 5,6 metres. The turbine machinery allowed a speed of 32 miles. The armour belt was 7,6cm thick and further more was a 2,5cm thick deck available. The armament consisted of 16-15,2cm guns and 5-6,3cm guns. The sister ships Admiral Greig and Svetlana were laid down at Reval. At the German yard Schichau were the 4.500 ton scouts Nevelski and Muraview Amurski of the German Kolberg design laid down. Dimensions 122,5 x 14 x 5 metres. Belt of 7,6cm and a 2,5cm thick deck. The Schichau machinery should allow a speed of 27,5 miles. The armament consisted of 8-12,7cm guns, 4-6,3cm guns and 5 submerged torpedo tubes. Coal bunker capacity 1.000 ton.
