Gun exploded on board of British gunboat HMS Comet according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1904-1905 no. 7

An item reported that during gun exercises on board of the British gunboat HMS Comet at Portsmouth, England- she was a tender for the midshipmen- a 12 cm gun exploded killing 2 sailors and a petty officer and wounding 3 sailors severely.(1)

1, Ant-class gunboat, launched at Portsmouth Dockyard, England on 8 December 1870 and sold to J.Pas to be broken up in the Netherlands on 12 May  1908.
