Building of Danish submarine 2den April ordered at Fiume, Austria-Hungary according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 4

An item reported that thanks to the public gifts the Danish government ordered a submarine at the Whitehead Company at Fiume [nowadays Rijeka, Croatia. She was to be named the 2den April as remembrance of the battle off Copenhagen, Denmark on 2 April 1901.(1)

Note
1. At Fiume were submarines built using an improved Electric Boat Company-design. Part of the A-class, building ordered in May 1911, launched on 31 March 1913, stricken on 15 January 1929 and used as a target until she was broken up in 1932.
