French battleship Vérité abandoned by part of crew when boiler tubes burst according to the Dutch newspaper De Sumatra Post dated 16 August 1912

An item reported that due to some bursting boiler tubes on board of the French battleship Vérité (1) lying off Toulon, France panic broke out and newspapers reported that a part of the crew jumped over board swimming towards the shore. They were called back by her commanding officer and seriously reprimanded. At the same time broke also panic out on board of the battleship République and some fishing vessels nearby the Vérité.

Laid down by Forges et Chantirs de la Gironde, Bordeaux, France in April 1903, launched on 28 May 1907, commissioned in June 1908, stricken in 1922 and sold to be broken up.
