An item reported that the Portuguese navy department opened on 15 January the registration for tenders for the building of 6 destroyers with a displacement of 700-800 tons, a machinery consisting of petrol fuelled Yarrow boilers and Parsons or Curtis turbines and with 2 screws allowing a maximum speed of 32 knot and an armament of 3-10cm/3.9” L/40 guns and 2-53cm/21” torpedo tubes. On 15 January was the registration for tenders opened and it were British and American companies who were interested.
