An item reported that the Soviet Union
continued the development of one man torpedoes at Wolgast (P92), East Germany
since the end of August 1949 with the help of German soldiers and engineers who
were now held in captivity. The achieved results were perfect as was stated. It
was now possible for the driver to return with a second although smaller
torpedo. The new torpedo had with the second torpedo total length of 5,30
metres and a diameter of 90-120 centimetres. The second torpedo connected at
the rear end of the main torpedo was released after the main torpedo runs to it
target. The propulsion seemed to be a jet system and the range was around
200-250 kilometres. To make it possible to operate in very cold weather
conditions was special protection for the driver created.
