British protected cruiser HMS Europa visited the Dutch East Indies in 1900

Diadem-class

An item reported that the British cruiser 1st class HMS Europe (1) visited Tandjong-Priok, Dutch East Indies on 19 March and between 27 July-2 August 1900.(2)

Notes
1. Of the Diadem-class protected cruiser. Launched at J&G Thompson, Clydebank, Scotland on 20 March 1897, refitted in 1902, sold on 15 September 1920 to be rebuilt as a emigrant carrier, sunk in January 1921 and later salvaged and broken up at Genoa, Italy.
2. . Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 28 July 1900 reported the arrival at Batavia, Dutch Easy Indies on 27 July captain A.J. Horsley coming from Sydney, Australia. The edition dated 3 Augsut reported her departure towards Colombo, Ceylon.
