Floating dry dock for Portsmouth under construction according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1910 No. 2

An item reported that the floating dry dock to be built by Messrs. Cammel, Laird&Co. for Portsmouth had as dimensions 213 x 45,7 metres and a lifting capacity of around 40.000 tons and able to dock ships with a maximum draught of 2,2 metres. The dock was to be delivered within 18 months. Rumours claimed that the British firm Swan Richardson and Co., Newcastle-on-Tyne was to get a contract for a similar dock to the built for the Medway.
