An item reported the launching on 9 April at the naval arsenal at La Spezia, Italy of the Italian sea going torpedo boat Gabbiano. Built using the designs of first lieutenant shipbuilding engineer Antonio Traverso with a displacement of 162 tons and as dimensions 48,5 (between perpendiculars) x 5,4 (maximum) x 1,7 (medium) metres. Fitted out with 2x2.200 ihp engines of the from the naval list stricken torpedo boats No. s 110 and 111 and 2 naphtha fuelled Normand boilers allowing a speed of 20 knots.(1)
