The Bulgarian destroyer Georgi Dimitrov according to a CIA report dated 13 November 1952

An item reported that the Bulgarian navy possessed one destroyer the Georgi Dimitrov (the former Nezamoshnik, Zante or Zhelyeznyakov), built at Nikolayv between 1917-1923.(1) With a displacement of 1.323 tons and as dimensions 93 x 9,3 x 3 metres. Speed with the 29.000 hp supplied by turbines was 30 knots, but nowadays to be assumed less. Crew numbered 161 men. Armament consisted of 4-10cm guns, 2-4,5cm guns, 1-3,7cm, machinegun, 3-1,3cm machineguns, 3x3-45,cm torpedo tubes and 45 heavy mines. Fuel bunker capacity 290 ton. In a note was according to rumours the Nezamoshnik was replaced by an Optini class-destroyer with a displacement of 1.570 tons, 40 knots speed and an armament of 3-12,7cm guns, 4-4,5cm guns, 3-3,7cm guns, 8-53,3cm torpedo tubes and 60 mines.(2)

1. The Fidonisy or Kerch-class destroyers built for the Russian Black Sea Fleet between 1915-1924, preceded by the Dezky-class, succeeded by the Opytny-class. Displacement 1.347 (normal)-1.773 (full load) tons and as dimensions 92,51-93,26 x 9,05-9,07 x 3,2-3,81 metres or 303.6-306.0 x 29.8-29.9 x 10.6-12.6 feet. Armament consisted of 4x1-10,2cm/4” guns, 2x1-4cm/2” anti aircraft guns, 4x3-45cm/17.7” torpedo tubes and 80 mines. The Korfu laid down on 23 June 1916, launched on 10 October 1917, completed on 10 June 1925 was in 1947 handed over to Bulgaria and returned in 1949. Ex-Petrivsky renamed Zheleznyakov and then PKZ-62.
2. Of the Ognevoy or Project 30-K class, laid down at Shipyards No. 200 (61 Communards), Nikolayev, Ukraine on 20 November 1939, launched on 25 December 1940, commissioned on 9 January 1949, handed over to Bulgaria as the Georgi Dimitorv on 25 March 1950 and broken up in 1963. Displacement 2.125 (standard)-2.860 (full load) tons and as dimensions 117 (over all) x 11 x 4,25 metres or 383.10 x 36.1 x 13.11 feet. Speed 36,5 knots, Armament 2x2-13cm/5.1” guns, 2x1-8,5cm/3.3” anti aircraft guns, 6x1-3,7cm/1.5” anti aircraft guns, 2x3-53,3cm/21” torpedo tubes, 52-60 mines and 2 depth charge launchers with 22 depth charges.
