An item reported that mid-August 1950 the East China Naval Command was ordered to sent 7 gunboats towards Fukien to support the 8 and 10 Army Groups in their actions against the Nationalist military on the coastal islands.(1) The gunboats measured around 100 tons and four were original merchant ships rebuilt as gunboats.
