Trade between Hong Kong and Macau not interrupted by blockade according to a CIA report dated 11 April 1950

An item reported that the import and export trade of Macau (1) was on her highest level ever in the recent history. The major part of the transported stores came from Hong Kong for the Chinese interior with Macau serving as transition harbour. The naval blockade by the Nationalists (1) did not interdict the trade between Hong Kong and Macau. Trucks and small native vessels transported the stored to their destination.

1. At that moment a Portuguese colony, since 1999 a special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China.
2. Chinese Civil War 1927-1929 ending in a victory for the People’s Republic of China forcing the Republic of China to retreat from the Chinese mainland.
