An item dealing with the harbours along the river Danube reported that the harbour of Lom, Bulgaria played a major role in the export and import shipping of goods (including engines) between for instance Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Greece, Egypt and Romania. Although the size of the harbour was not large she had a great turnover while possessing many storage places for goods and on the river bank plenty convenient spots for storing raw materials and foods. In the harbour was an electric rotor machine available and a new Liman (estuary) under construction. The city had a military garrison and there is a radio and telegraph office for communication..
