Crew of German steamship Uruguay scuttled her to prevent seizure by British according to the Dutch newspaper De Indische courant dated 9 March 1940

An item dated London, England 9th referred to an announcement of the British Admiralty reporting that after a British cruiser stopped the 6.000 tons German steamship Uruguay in the Northern Atlantic Ocean her own crew scuttled the ship. The men were next embarked on board of the cruiser.
