British second class cruiser HMS Hawke executing trials according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1892-1893 no. 3

An item referred to the magazine Engineering dealing with the trial results of the British second class cruiser HMS Hawke. She was the second of the cruisers allowed to be built under the Naval Act of the Edgar-design. Built by Armstrong Mitchell&Co. were her engines manufactured by Maudslay Sons&Co. On the 8 hours trial on 5 March was with natural draft, a medium horsepower of 10.700 ihp a medium speed of 19,5 knots achieved. On the 4 hours trial on 18 March with a medium horsepower of 12.520 ihp and 102 rpm was the medium speed 19,75 knots.(1)

Part of the Edgar-class protected class cruisers, consisting of the Edgar, Hawke, Endymion, Royal Arthur (ex-Centaur), Gibraltar, Grafton, St. George, Theseus and Crescent, preceded by the Blake-class and succeeded by the Powerful-class. Laid down by Chatham Dockyard, England on 17 June 1889, launched on 11 March 1891 and sunk by the German submarine U-9 off Aberdeen, Scotland on 15 October 1914.
