Dutch coastal defence ship Hr.Ms. De Zeven Provincien lying at Spithead, England according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 44 dated 12 November 1921


An item reported that the Dutch coastal defence ship Hr.Ms. De Zeven Provincien was lying at Spithead, England with steering gear problems. She was bound for the Dutch East Indies.(1)

Note

1. Laid down by Rijkswerf, Amsterdam, Netherlands on 7 February 1908, launched on 15 March 1909, commissioned on 6 October 1910, renamed Soerabaja in 1936, sunk in a Japanese air attack on 18 February 1942, salvaged, sunk in an Allied air attack in 1943. Claimed to be raised in 1944 after she sunk in 1942 but wrecked.
