New British model lightships according to the Dutch newspaper Limburger koerier: provinciaal dagblad daily edition dated 26 March 1940

According to a tiding dated London 25 March was a new model of lightships commissioned which ships during a period of two months automatically lightened. They resembled so much the unarmed lightships which while serving off the British coast were attacked that men believed that this new ships were ordinary lightships. The main difference was that this new model didn’t have a single soul on board because they functioned automatically. In fact it were large buoys half the size of the lightships were taken back to the harbours.
