Spanish naval shipbuilding program according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 27 April 1907

Despite all the rumours dealing with the naval programs and the connection with the meetings between the British and the Spanish kings decided Spain to build 6 battleships of the Lord Nelson type, 6 cruisers and 12 destroyers. England got all the benefits of this decision while 3 battleships were build at Ferrol but by British firms, the other 3 in England just like the cruisers and destroyers. Further more was decided to the building of docks at Cadiz, Ferrol and Carthagena suitable for ships up to 20,000 tons and to fit out the yards with the newest equipment.
