Of the Dolphin type 800 class SSK submarines with as sister ships the Dolphin and the Tekuma. Laid down on the yard of Howaldtswerke/Thyssen Nordseewerke in West-Germany on 13 April 1995, launched on 25 April 1997 and commissioned in May 1999.
