French ultra large crude tanker Prairial 1979-2003

IMO no. 7408720 and call sign C6QG6. Sister ships are the Batillus, Bellamya and Pierre Guilaumat. Launched on 21 September 1979 at the shipyard Alsthom, Chantiers de l’Atlantique at St. Nazaire with yard number H 26 and completed in December that same year. With a gross tonnage of 261,453-274,826, a deadweight of 554,974-604,000 tons were her dimensions 414,22 (design over all) x 63,05-63,1 x 28,60 and a depth of 28,60-35,92 metres. The Stal-Laval steam turbines supplied 65,000 allowing with the two screws a speed of 16,7 6 knots. Build on behalf of the Compagnie Nationale de Navigation, France, France-flagged with as homeport Le Havre and operated by Elf Aquitaine. Renamed on 5 April 1983 Sea Brilliance (Norwich SGg&Tdg. SA, homeport Panama City),on 31 December 1985 renamed Hellas Fos (Greece-flagged and homeport Piraeus) and on 6 January 1998 renamed Sea Giant (Lamar Nav Ltd, homeport Monrovia, Liberia-flagged) and finally broken up in September 2003 at the Gadani Ship Breaking Yard, Karachi, India.
