Portuguese troop transport India harassed by cholera according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 27 August 1888

An item referred to tidings from Macao that on board of the transport India cholera broke out among the soldiers destined towards Mocambique.(1) Within 48 hours were 24 of the 36 sick men killed. The newspaper Zierikzeesche Nieuwsbode dated 28 August confirmed this item.

1. This Portuguese transport passed on 22 April 1890 Vlissingen, Netherlands coming from Antwerp, Belgium destined for Lisbon, Portugal according to the newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 23 April 1890. The newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 27 September reported that when on 15 September the Cortes at Lisbon was opened in the evening people protested ending in bringing sixty arrestees on board of her.
