British press positive about French navy according to the Dutch newspaper De Nederlander dated 30 September 1850

An item dated Paris 26 September reported that since the fleet was visited by the president the authorities were pleased with what the British said about the French navy. The British newspaper United Service Gazette wrote for instance that every able seaman who viewed the exercises of the French fleet at Cherbourg have to commit that the French ships of the line were at least as good as the British.
