The divers of the Royal Netherlands Navy according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuwsblad voor Sumatra dated 4 November 1952

An item reported that the Royal Netherlands Navy possessed at that moment sixty divers all volunteers and recruited among stokers, sailors and carpenters 1st class. Winter or summertime made no difference for diving in their diving suits with a weight of 100 kg. However their bounties for this heavy profession were not huge. In the summer was 10 cent and in the winter 20 cent paid for every minute they were under water. If the diving depth was more as 45 metres were the payments doubled.
