Dutch salvage company removed remaining parts of the wreck of HMS Vindictive in Belgian harbour Oostende according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 20 August 1925

An item referred to the correspondent of another Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant who reported that the Monday before the last part of the wreck of the Vindictive (1) with a weight of around 50 tons was removed out of the harbour of Oostende, Belgium by the floating crane Beta of the salvage company Van den Tack from Rotterdam, Netherlands. Five year earlier was the complete wrecked moved by the Salvage section of the British Royal Navy while it obstructed the shipping trade. The minister of civil works requested tenders for the salvage and which was given for 767.000 Belgian francs to a contractor and who also got the property of the wreck. In 1922 he handed the order over to the firm from Rotterdam.

The British protected cruiser HMS Vindictive of the Arrogant-class was laid down on 27 January 1896 at the Chatham dockyard, launched on 9 December 1897, completed on 4 July 1900 and sunk as a blockship at Oostende on 10 May 1918. With a displacement of 5.750 tons were her dimensions 104 x 17,53 metres or 342x 576 and a main armament of 10-6 guns.
