Dutch floating sheer leg Kolossus built at Hardinxveld according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwsblad voor Gorinchem en omstreken dated Wednesday 2 November 1955

An item reported that at the Dutch shipyard N.V. scheepsbouwwerf De Hoop at Hardinxveld the pontoon was launched [on 28 October]. The pontoon was to be used of a floating sheer leg built for account of Van der Tak’s Bergingsbedrijf at Rotterdam. She was baptized by Mrs. Van den Berg-Rackwitz. The sheer leg was to be named Kolossus. The dimensions of the pontoon were 36 x 15,80 x 3 (hold) metres and the lift capacity 200 tons via two major head hoists of each 100 tons. Height of the head hoists was to be 40 metres resulting in a maximum lift height of 35 metres. The legs were manufactured by F. Kloos en Zonen werkplaatsen N.V. and the engine by J. en K. Smit’s Scheepswerven N.V., both at Kinderdijk. The edition dated 20 May reported that immediately after the after the launching of an elevator barge the slip was used to lay down the keel of a pontoon. This must be the same pontoon although her length was reported to be 30 metres. The edition dated 9 March 1956 reported her delivery at that moment berthed along the Boompjeskade at Rotterdam.
