Belgian harbour of Zeebrugge was to become main naval base according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1924 no. 5
An item referred to the U.S.N.I. Proceedings no. 255 reporting the Belgian harbour was to be converted into the major Belgian naval base. According to the plans o the minister for national defence was the complete Belgian fleet to be transferred from her temporary base at Antwerp towards Brugge and Zeebrugge en where new basins for submarines and dry docks to be constructed c.q. made. Another magazine Schiffbau dated 1924 no. 20 reported that the torpedo service part of the coastal defence existed of 10 torpedo boats, 10 guard vessels, 26 officers, 70 warrant officers and 585 sailors to which 25 French instructors were added.
