British cruiser HMS Blake was to become mother ship for destroyers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1907-1908 no. 6


An item referred to the magazine Schifbau reporting that the British armoured cruiser HMS Blake was to be converted into a mother ship for destroyers.(1) The main armament was to be removed and work shops fitted.

1. A 1st class cruiser launched at the Chatham dockyard on 23 November 1889 with a displacement of 9.000 tons and as dimensions 375’ x 65’, since August 1908 depot ship and finally sold on 9 June 1922 to Rees at Llanelly.
